Test Format in Detail

The IELTS test consists of four sections. The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Listening

Listen to four recordings of native English speakers and write your answers to a series of questions.

Your IELTS Test Report Form (TRF) is valid for 2 years from the date of the test.
Yes! You can choose between paper-based and computer-delivered IELTS. The test format, questions, time allocated, and scoring are exactly the same. Computer-delivered results are available much faster (within 3-5 days).
There is no limit to how many times you can take the IELTS test. You can take it as many times as you like until you achieve your desired score.
If you take the paper-based test, results are available 13 days after your test. For the computer-delivered test, results are available within 3 to 5 days.
